Today, I slept in... but not too long... and woke up with a "must get things done" mindset. It felt nice.
I also decided to buy new hairbrush #2 since Winston has a strange love of hair brushes. Instead of buying another Walmart one, I decided to check out Sally's. If you know me, I'm not a fancy-getting-ready-type-of-girl. I have a hand-me down chi that has started to not get hot enough and one of its ceramic plates is loose... and my hair dryer is from probably 9th grade... and losing heat. Long story short, I walked out of Sally's with more hair product stuff than I have bought in the last 10 years (maybe longer) and an empty bank account. Oops.. but I did get several good deals. First, I bought a different type of hair straightener (GVP) that is 1/2 the price of a chi and works just as well. It also came with a free hair brush (which was why I went in there in the first place) and free hair product (which I never buy). Oh, then I decided to look at hair dryers. I found a reduced price one which meant I could get another reduced price product free... So, I came out with a bag full of goodies that I never would have bought it if weren't for Winston loving my hair brush a little too much. :)
Anyway, after that I decided to go to Carol Ann Cross Park for the second time this week. It was such a beautiful day! Who knew walking and reading could be so relaxing and fun? I'm glad that some of my class reading material isn't in huge textbooks. I was able to read several chapters from my Endless Possibilities book by Pat Cordeiro. This book has SOOOOO many neat classroom ideas. If I'm completely honest, the book is rather intimidating since I'm not actually a teacher with my own classroom yet. I'm learning so much from it but feel like I don't know if I'll be able to emulate the same type of classroom when I'm a teacher. Will I be able to give the students control over the things they will be learning? How can I provide riveting activities that engage all types of learners? I guess I will pass those obstacles when they come. Either way, I highly recommend any teacher or future teacher to read this book.
So, after the walk in the park... I planned to spend several hours at the library studying for the PLT and Praxis II. I was shocked to see that it would close in thirty minutes. Instead of studying at the library, I decided to return some books and find some other books on Powwows (I'll explain their purpose in later posts). So, five o'clock came, and I still needed to go to Walmart. I did. Then home... and homework... and studying... so, that's what I'm doing now.
It was a pretty successful day. I really want to kick back and watch a movie... maybe after I study a little more? For now, back to the binder full of material to study.
Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend! I wish I were camping in a cabin at Mt. Nebo like my parents. Perhaps that will be my weekend before too long.
Much love,
Em
:) Glad you had such a good day! And got so much done. Best of luck on your test this Saturday.
