Backtrack

I feel somewhat overwhelmed by how much has occurred since I last really updated... but I must backtrack because I can't seem to write about today without writing about the past. Enjoy.

Last Thursday... okay, the Thursday before last.. Zac and I went to the Luke Bryan concert with Jade and Chris. It was spur of the moment and a blast!

waiting for the concert..
excited!!
the girls
the boys
Jade was excited.. even though she looks in pain here.
Our back of the room view

I'm not a fan of skinny jeans for men.
Zac and Chris came back from the restroom to find Luke
performing on a small stage right in front of them!

The Friday after the concert, I didn't have to watch Christian and class was canceled. So, I jumped on the chance to have a full day of freedom. The best part was that my mom decided to join me for a day trip to NWA. It was really nice having a complete day just mom and I. We planned it all out since we had a lot of things we wanted to do. So, we met in Alma at 9:00 and drove to Fayetteville. We went to the Little Bread Company for brunch. Great place with amazing food and a comfortable atmosphere!

Mom's delicious egg, bacon, and cream cheese bagel.
My yummy Cali club with avocado and bean sprouts.

Then, we went to Avalon Nutrition in Fayetteville. My friend Shaina's mother-in-law works there and sells her own hand-crafted pottery. My mom and I left with several unique and beautiful pieces. You should check it out!

Our next stop was Once Upon a Time used bookstore where I stocked up on some great finds for my future classroom.

Next on our list of places to visit was Crystal Bridges. It's such a beautiful museum surrounded by nature. We really want to go back when we have more time to walk some of the trails.

For dinner we ate at the Mellow Mushroom and had the best pizza ever! We even split a spinach and artichoke dip as an appetizer.

Our little mini-trip away from reality was probably one of the best mother-daughter things we've ever done together. Great conversation, beautiful art/pottery, and delicious food. I hope we have many more mini-trips in the future.

Last Monday, Christian and I finally got to set up his drink stand he has been talking about for almost a month. He sold Bloxy Cola and Witches Brew (from his favorite computer game Roblox). He made $13 dollars (most from tips) worth in probably 30 minutes! I don't remember my lemonade stands selling near that much... then again I wasn't too creative with my drink selection. Way to go Christian! Now he's wanting to add some "entertainment" to his drink stand. He's such an innovative and tech-savvy kid... never a dull moment. I don't look forward to not being able to watch him next semester.

The sign said, "Thirsty, Out of Breath, or Just Need a Drink!"
"Get your cup of the Original Bloxy Cola or Witches Brew here!!!"

I must also post a link to this amazing story about a boy who sold lemonade to raise money for his father's cancer treatments. Now that's determination!

Today Christian and I rode on the Ferris Wheel downtown. I don't remember the last time I rode on a Ferris Wheel. I think I might have enjoyed it more than he did :).

He wasn't scared... I promise :)
Aren't we cute?

This morning Zac and I did not hear the alarm... and Zac got mad. And he destroyed the old alarm clock and bought this. It is 113 decibels. Normal alarm clocks are 75. 113 is about the level of volume you hear coming from the cars driving down the street, except this will be an alarm clock sound. For every 10 decibel increase, it take a doubling in power/speakers. So, this being almost 40 decibels louder is more like 4 times as loud as a normal alarm clock. I don't think we will have any problems hearing this. I hope our neighbors won't be able to hear it.

Anyway, enough updates for now.

Much love,
Em
