We had another wonderful, busy weekend spent with family and friends. I somewhat feel like I'm living out of a suitcase these days, but I guess that's just part of it living so close to family and out of town at the same time.

I love my kitchen aid, even though I don't use it often. |

YUMMM!!! |
So, Friday was a busy day for me. I decided to do something I don't do often and bake two Coca-Cola Cakes. One for my mother-in-law for Mother's Day and the other for a cook out with friends. I also decided to prepare three strawberry pies on Saturday. Baking and making desserts is just not like me. But Mother's Day is special so I did. While making the Coca-Cola Cakes, I kept thinking to myself that I feel like I'm traveling in a foreign country. I know baking isn't hard. But I am just so messy and awkward doing it. My parents gave me a refurbished kitchen aid when I got married. I think this is the fifth time I've used it in almost 7 years. Yes, that's sad. I guess it could be considered good since that means I have rarely made desserts. My mom is the queen of the kitchen so that's always been her domain. Anyway, both the cakes and pies were a hit. Our van, to say the least, was packed to the brim. Three dogs, a baby, two adults, cakes, pie ingredients, stroller... we clearly don't travel light.
We got to Hilda's about 9:30. Zac and I were both wanting to go to bed reasonably early since we would be running in a 4 mile race in the morning. Regardless of when we went to bed, Grady had other plans. First, I couldn't go to sleep because I was nervous about the race. Then, Grady decided to wake up every hour. I got about 4.5 hours of sleep with waking up each hour. I wasn't very happy that morning. Nevertheless, Zac and I both were pleased with our race times. Zac ran his in 27:40! That is a 6:55 overall pace. I was pretty proud of how fast he ran in it. I ran mine in 42:20. It was about a 10:25 pace. I'd say that's not too bad considering the amount of training I've been doing. Next time I'm hoping to run in under a 10 minute pace. We will see! I really wish we would have remembered to take some pictures. Oh well, hopefully next race we'll remember to take some.
Later Saturday, I made the strawberry pies, relaxed at Hilda's, and then we went over to Nate and Jami's to celebrate him graduating college. It was a really nice day/evening. I only wish I would have gotten more sleep.

cutest swimming shorts for Grady - thanks Jami and Nate! |
Sunday, I went to church with my mom and Zac with his mom. After church, I picked up Zac and we ate spaghetti at my Pawpaw's house. That evening we grilled out at Hilda's and enjoyed more family time. We left to go home about 8:30. It was a wonderful weekend. Now back to eating healthy (again - notice a pattern when we leave town?), running even more, laundry, and trying to pick up our house. Hope you all had a wonderful Mother's Day and great rest of the week!!

Also, I really hate that I didn't get just a mother/son picture of Grady and I on Mother's Day. I also didn't get any pictures of Grady with the grandparents or our mothers with us. Oh well, I did get some good pictures of the great-grandparents with Grady, though.
